Maintenance Schedules
Mowing Schedule We Recommend:
March-June every 5-9 days
July-September every 5-12 days
October-November every 7-20 days
December-January - Optional
February every 14 days
December and January are dormant months of growth for almost all grass types in Washington State and can go without any mowing at all. To maintain a sharp edge and clean looking landscape during these months some choose a cosmetic mow once a month.
Fertilizing Schedule We Recommend:
Granule slow release fertilizing once in May (strengthening for harsh Summer weather).
Granule slow release fertilizing once in September (strengthening for harsh Winter weather). This period is optional but not required for our area.
Mulch fertlilizing with grass clippings 2-8 times throughout entire mowing season with sessions spread out.
Aerating and Thatching Schedule We Recommend:
Aerate once every 24-48 months or as needed to reduce compact soil and increase oxygen flow to soil.
Thatch once every three years or as needed to reduce excess thatch in lawn that can congest oxygen flow to soil and stunt grass growth.
Bark and Mulch Schedule We Recommend:
Bark or mulch should be applied in flowerbeds at least once a year to keep weeds and unwanted grass out. Optimally twice a year, once in the Winter and once in the Fall as mulch dries out and bio-degrades leaving your flowerbeds exposed through time and more vulnerable to weeds.
Watering Schedule We Recommend:
October-May watering is hardly needed in the Pacific Northwest, as Mother Nature provides plenty of water. Water as needed.
June-September tend to be very harsh and dry and ideally you should water your lawn for about 10 minutes each dry day only.
(These are general recommendations. Each landscape is different and should be individually evaluated.)
